Moore About the Facilitators
Dr. Christopher Emdin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology at Teachers College, Columbia University; where he also serves as Director of the Science Education program and Associate Director of the Institute for Urban and Minority Education.
He is the creator of the #HipHopEd social media movement, and a much sought-after public speaker on a number of topics that include hip-hop education, STEM education, politics, race, class, diversity, and youth empowerment. He is also an advisor to numerous international organizations, school districts, and schools.
He is the author of the award winning book, Urban Science Education for the Hip-hop Generation and the New York Times bestseller For White Folks Who Teach In the Hood and the Rest of Ya’ll too.
Dr. Karen Gaffney is an English Professor at Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey. Her book Dismantling the Racism Machine: A Manual and Toolbox (Routledge) is an accessible introduction to race and racism with tools for action. She presents at academic conferences, including the White Privilege Conference, facilitates antiracism workshops, and works with two local antiracism coalitions. Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. has found success in academia, business, diversity, leadership, and community service. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies at the University of Iowa. In 1996, he started America & MOORE, LLC to provide comprehensive diversity, privilege, and leadership training/workshops. Under his direction and inclusive relationship model, the White Privilege Conference has become one of the top national and international conferences for participants who want to move beyond dialogue and into action around issues of diversity, power, privilege, and leadership. In 2014, Dr. Moore founded The Privilege Institute, which engages people in research, education, action, and leadership through workshops, conferences, publications, and collaborative partnerships and relationships.
Dr. Marguerite W. Penick received her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to attending graduate school, she worked as a High School teacher in an urban school in Kansas City, Kansas. Dr. Penick-Parks currently serves as Graduate Coordinator of Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Her work centers on issues of power, privilege, and oppression in relationship to issues of the curriculum with a special emphasis on the incorporation of quality literature in K-12 classrooms. Her most recent work includes a joint article on creating safe spaces for discussing white privilege with pre-service teachers and is a co-editor of Everyday White People Confronting Racial and Social Injustice:15 Stories, The SAGE Sourcebook of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement, The Guide for White Women who Teach Black Boys and The Diversity Consultant Cookbook: Preparing for the Challenge.

Jenna Chandler Ward has been an educator in non-profits, schools, and colleges for over 20 years, working with students from kindergarten to college level. Jenna was also a founder and co-director of the Multicultural Teaching Institute, which produces workshops and a conference for educators on issues of equity and inclusion.
Elizabeth Denevi works with schools nationally to increase equity, promote diversity pedagogy, and implement strategic processes for growth and development. She also serves as an adjunct professor at Lewis & Clark College in the Graduate School of Education and Counseling.
CESA 2 Consultants
Tracy Elger has been the Executive Director of Integrated Programs and Services at CESA 2 since 2015. As an Executive Director, Tracy leads a distinguished team of professional development consultants at CESA 2.
Gretchen Lettau has worked as a teacher and coordinator for 16 years with culturally and linguistically diverse populations. She comes to CESA 2 after working in the Menasha Joint School District as a high school history teacher, ESL and Bilingual teacher, and coordinator for the EL and Bilingual Programs.
Kim Stieber-White joins CESA 2 with deep knowledge and experience in equity and social justice, literacy, instructional technology, and innovation. Her 27 years of experience in schools spans urban, suburban, and rural district settings in Wisconsin and includes serving as an instructional coach, reading specialist, library media specialist, technology integrator, adjunct literacy instructor, and English teacher.
