IMN officials had a successful international event in Dubai.


Three annual United Nations Global Compact events took placed in Dubai, UAE on 24-27 October, 2016. These events were attended by 84 networks from the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) drawn from 84 countries.  While Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are universal, they are very much be addressed at the national level – where each country will apply its unique history, culture and capabilities. Global Compact Local Networks are well positioned to roll out global goals to business communities in all regions of the world, to ensure that the SDGs result in tangible and impactful action on the ground. 


Khayala Mammadova, head of İnternational Multicultural Network and Contact Person for Global Compact Azerbaijan Network, was invited to participate in the three annual Global Compact events. The Azerbaijan Network also participated in the discussions focusing on the implementation of the UN Global Compact’s 2020 Strategy, UN Global Compact  New Business Moodel and Global Engagement Model and the role of Local Networks.
American University of Sharjah (AUS) also  hosted the first United Nations (UN) Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) Business for Peace Forum, part of the UN Global Compact Making Global Goals Local Business week.Organized by the PRME Working Group on Business for Peace, the forum was attended by academics, international organizations and NGOs to discuss the role of business to advance peace. This year’s forum was about cutting-edge academic research and practical experience pertaining to the peace-building potential of the private sector.

Khayala Mammadova had a meeting  with foreign students and Multicultural center’s members after  conference . They discussed multicultural issues related to  race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual identities, religion, immigration status, social class, and physical disability  during the meeting.







 

The meeting participants were informed about the International Multicultural Network’s activity by the Network specialist Ms.Nargiz Ismailova.She informed that the Network aims to increase awareness and understanding of issues of race and ethnicity and their influence on intrapsychic and interpersonal development.We encourage everybody to think broadly about culture and how it is relevant to all  their society.IMN officials also made  recommendations to the meeting participants regarding the integration of diversity issues across programming, newsletter, and general membership.
